Phantom 12 Tube ok here is the question of the day should I leave the 2 wire power cord or upgrade to 3 wire grounded? I been told to leave the 2 wire
but I watch videos of old tube guitar amps getting upgraded power cords and I do know they are two different beasts just want to get more info.

@dwilcox29,
This is a very good question, and I tried to keep it short.

I totally agree with "nomadradio" on this subject, and I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that have done this "Mod".

If it came with a three prong plug then it's fine.

I remember when I thought about the same situation along time ago it's a good thing the internet had the answer, and it's all due to electrical codes.

After doing a google search almost 10 years ago and again today, for your same question, this same site still comes up to this day:

Scroll down about half way down the page until you get to:
Is it a good idea to replace the old 2-wire line cords on our rigs with modern 3 wire grounded cords?

If you don't know the difference between "neutral and ground" for the electrical panel in your house, do your home work, watch a youtube video.
It could be very confusing, but it's something you should understand.

Someone somewhere must of had it happen for it to be a code anywhere.

Surprisingly, no. In fact, many electrical codes around the country would frown on it. The reason is that they expect the ONLY ground on the house wiring to exist at the service entrance. Adding additional grounds at points perhaps on the other side of the house could produce ground loops, unexpected ground current flows, and unpredictable ground potentials. Because your Amateur equipment has its own ground system (or SHOULD), they do not want you to connect it to the primary service ground. Stick with a 2-wire line cord and the best local ground system you can attach to your gear.

This is what the people I talked to were saying And I do think it would be safer to replace.
