I have a Ford F150. On two different times I have had a 27" and a 22" antenna break on me. Both antennas broke in the same place (at the base of the antenna about 1 inch above where the threads. Mounted in the rear corner of the truck bed. No obstructions and great SWR, But they both broke on different occasions. I go the speed limit, which is 65 mph. What could be happening?

Might be hitting a bird/squirrel etc?
Move antenna up closer to the cab. I had my 22" mounted right on the top of my F-150 for 7 yrs or so and never had it break.

Or maybe just very unlucky vibration .. I once had a one director element on a 6 meter beam (almost an inch thick, 22mm 1,5mm wallthickness and just 2,8 meters long) and it snapped each time again.. everything indicated it should stay up almost forever...but somehow it didnt. I honestly thougth it was an aluminium construction fail at first, untill it happend again..It is scary to have an element that sizes snapping several times from 100 feet up. Changed it to bigger and problem was solved.

I have run both the 27" single coil and 22" on the driver rear corner with both the ranger and GMC with no issues.
Does it vibrate at a certain speed?
Someone here had a 10k that hummed going highway speed, can't remember who at the moment.

My predator broke in the same place. For no reason. Not covered by warranty.
