President McKinley?

It's a nice little radio after you get use to the menu system. I had a bad experience with mine at first because I got one off frequency ( Bad part in the SSB circuit ) but after 3 repair shops President sent me a new one which I'm happy with. I guess any company can have a bad radio once in a while, but most who own them speak highly of them. Everybody has different requirement of their radio.

Good Luck

I basically reasked this same question just now in The Mods section. I still haven't bought one and I forgot about my question in this thread. Anyway, does anybody have any thoughts on getting one or is there something a little better around the same price range? I'm seeing a couple of used mckinleys for under a hundred bucks.

For $80 - $100, the McKinley is a decent deal (I've seen a few under $80 as well). If it's the McKinley FCC/USA you must go into it knowing there is no channel expansion, or modes that would gain additional power or frequencies. I bought a couple used ones for my two Sons and as a limited space radio with minimal screw-ups for non-radio people, they've worked fine.

The Radioddity QT-40 is a nice radio as well, and I've seen 'em used for around $120 (more freqs & power).
