President Washington

Was asked to sell a Uniden President Washington for an elderly friend.
I was checking it over, AM working SSB nothing.
This is what I found inside.
I this the pic where the screwdriver is could be the issue?

I blew it up and I was wrong. I blame it on old age hahaha. I deleted the post after I looked closer.

A can of compressed air may help also.
These radios were a great find 20 years ago but now usually need a bit of refurbishment that most dont want to pay for. They often get sold as parts/not working fairly cheap but ones that have been given some love bring better money.

Yup me too, I love some of the older gear but lack the skills to diagnose and repair. Yet I have a habit of buying clean older gear. Cb stands for constantly buying...

VR9 was the "fixed transmit" frequency trimpot. If it's missing, the clarifier has probably been modified to lock your transmit and receive frequencies together.

You said nothing on sideband.

Or transmit?

Or both?

This radio is a 'single conversion' design. Kinda rare to have a fault that clobbers the receiver for one mode and not the other.

Transmit side is a bit different. Has a few circuits used solely for sideband transmit.

TX only, I could hear a station way off.
