I do think it will make a decent 'bird hunter'. I was driving to work this morning and around 0930z I heard Yuri on AO51. I had the downlink frequencies programmed in a different bank than the local repeaters but haven't figured out how to scan just one bank. I had the squelch closed enough to allow the radio to scan without stopping, then wham it stops on one of the downlinks and I hear AO51 pretty clearly. I was shocked to say the least, as I was drivning to work, and scanning, and only have a lip mount with a Diamond NR73B antenna. I tried to get into the uplink, but didn't hear myself. I am waiting for the recording to be posted, to see if I was there.
