I attached the K-602 fan kit with a three-position rocker switch to my 955HPC+ and it is effective. I like it because the fans draw heat away from the heat-sink and not into the heat-sink as other fan kits. I attached the kit to the AT-5555Plus for test purposes. The fans are much further away from the heat-sink fins on the AT-5555Plus. The heat-sink fins are 5/8" long on the AT-5555Plus and 1-1/4" long on the 955. There is too much gap between the fins and the fans on the AT-5555Plus.
I'm surprised you need a fan on that radio.I attached the K-602 fan kit with a three-position rocker switch to my 955HPC+
No, no, no. It does not need a fan. Once in a while I like to try a (external) "gimmick or gadget" and test for myself. The day I ordered the fan kit was the same day I skipped buying a lotter ticket. LOL! LOL!I'm surprised you need a fan on that radio.
It's the same circuit inside as the Anytone 5555N2. I have that Anytone version and I can yak all day on sideband at 60+ watts PEP and while the heatsink does get hot, it's never too hot to touch and there's no power loss even when it does heat up. Room temp in my shop where I have the radio ranges from about 50 to 80F depending on season.......
Does the 955HPC+ have a smaller heatsink than the Anytone? Just curious why it would need a fan...........
On a related note.....I have an original 6666 in my vehicle and it gets way too hot with the little bitty heatsink it has and it could sure use a fan!

President Radios must know something we don't know because they sell and recommend the external fan kit for the new Washington Mobile. Isn't odd that the air flow is towards the heat sink? That looks like a great little fan kit.
The fact that you say the heat sink does get hot would be the exact reason why I would add a fan kit. I would rather be safe then sorry.
