hi everyone

i took it upon my self to purchase a mobile set up :tongue:
i think i should asked for advice, but i didn't. my bad
i have a pontiac vibe gt. i didn't want to go to a nmo.
scary for me to put holes in my car.:redface:
so please let me know what ya think. this is the purchase.

Kenwood TM-v71A wanted the crossband repeat as well as dual band.
Diamond SG-7900A uhf pl- 259 type antenna
K400C HD Trunk Hatchback Mount

I think it will work great and you will have a lot of fun! Those hatch lip mounts are very popular for the same reasons that you just gave. It's not the "perfect" installation position, but who cares? It will work fine and if it gets you on the air, then it serves it's purpose.
 
Sounds like a decent setup to me. Those K400 mounts are great. I use a pair of them on my vehicle's rear hatch door's vertical edge. One supports a Comet CA2x4SR dual band VHF/UHF antenna and the other even supports a homebrew HF antenna without a problem.
