Freq range is only to 30 MHz. Need much higher to enjoy all a scanner has to offer.

You can build it for 5$ by yourself in 30min top.
It is just 4 vertical dipoles joined in 1 feedpoint. Grab a piec of wire and do it :)
    Not worth 33$ for sure.

He says the four elements are of different lengths for different frequency ranges. With the four ground elements it does appear to be just four small dipoles. Questions:

    1. What are the lengths of the elements?
    2. What effect does running the coax straight down from the four have? Isn't it suppose to be perpendicular for a ways?

For listening you put some ferrite cores to cut RF and that's all.
    Length?
49cm for 120-180MHz, 17cm for 400-500MHz. Each leg of dipole.

    Yep. I like it.
And the SO-239 version is only $36.50!

I have two of them in storage at the moment. They are not bad but the cone elements are a weak point. I suggest using Loc-Tite and lock washers on the element threads and tighten the nuts carefully. I have seen elements fall off after a couple years without doing this.

Thanks. Have always wondered if LocTite affects the electrical connection.
Any thoughts on the antenna by Lowbander?

Yup..........it's designed to take advantage of people that do not know any better and make their wallets lighter. I bet my next paycheck all it is is a short piece of coax with four lengths of wire of various lengths inside that PVC pipe. All for the low low price of $33.

If mine gets any lighter, I'll have to start wearing ankle weights just to stay grounded. :D

I would not waste my money or time on the pvc antenna.
Use the Loctite sparingly and use the jam nuts to ensure good electrical connection. For just a little more money you get a real antenna that is made from stainless steel and billet aluminum.

You can buy the eBay listing which is DNJ Radio I buy from them all of the time.
