I was wondering if I should use pipe thread tape (plumbers tape) on the threads when connecting the line?? I wasnt sure if it wouldnt hurt anything of if I should leav it alone and just thread the line on.

Certainly use the Teflon plumber's tape. It seals the threads well and gas is not something you want to fool around with anyway. Is it legal to do it yourself in your area? I know up here you need to be licensed to install gas appliances. Most people do it themselves anyway but better safe than sorry if you are not sure how to do it.

its all done works good i used soap to look for leaks and check often ofcourse for any smell of gas but so far so good and I made venison stew with it just now and I didnt end up on neptune so all is good and I had used the tape on it earlier I figured it couldnt hurt to make an extra tight seel. thanks for the replies guys.

Hmmm, when I installed my new stove there were two choices. Either the pipe thread compound that is in a can and applied with a brush or a special thread tape that is rated for gas connections. I think it was a yellow colored tape that wouldn't break down over time. Check with a master plumber if you can.

The stuff in the can was most likely rector seal. Which I highly recomend. And Smackdown is right I think the tape needs to be rated also. Not sure on the teflon. I would also ask someone.
