I know nothing of using an 11m V4k to monitor other bands, but the 2m version I made works well on 2m.
Additionally, I find that signal strength and clarity of receive improves on my random wire when I hit the tune button on my ATU.
I often read where folks say length of a wire does not matter on receive, but that hasn't been my experience.
