I understand how you feel. I am an ex infantry soldier and have felt like paying a visit or two before as well. People always are different when things are face to face. And honestly, it would make some people think twice before doing it again. But the reality is, we need to be bigger than that. Why tarnish a lifetime of good deeds and serving the public by becoming the very thing we were sworn to defend against? I'm sorry you got ripped off. And it isn't the $30, I'm sure it is the principle of it.
I should have just stayed out of it. I'd just hate to see someone get hurt or even shot over $30. That can very well happen when trying to prove a point by knocking on the wrong person's door. Be it him or the other guy. It just isn't worth it.
