Thought I'd ask.....

A guy I used to know, that passed away 5 years ago, earned one of these in 1979, according to his obituary.

I never knew he had an interest in radio until after he passed away.

Anyways I tried doing a search on what this permit allowed you to do. The only thing I could find was....

The T3 authorizes operation of certain coast radiotelegraph stations. It also confers the operating authority of the MP.

Cam someone please explain in laymans terms what exactly this permit allowed one to do?

Laymans terms...IIRC, It is/was a "DJ License" allowing someone to be the jock and engineer at a commercial broadcast station....2 jobs,1 guy

A Third Class Radio Telephone permit allowed you to control a voice transmitter, usually commercial broadcast. Basically a "DJ's" permit. That's all it did, no engineering at all. For a telegraphy station (CW) you needed at lease a Third Class Radio Telegraph permit. Still no engineering, but you could take meter readings (same with the 3rd Class Radio Telephone).
I did that sort of thing for a short while and when I was on the way to Dallas totake the test, the station's engineer said to ask for a 'Radar' endorsement. I passed and asked the examiner for a Radar Endorsement. He looked sort of odd, then stamped the thing. When I got home the station's engineer laughed his head off. There's no such thing as a Radar Endorsement for a 3rd Class of any kind. But I had the stamp! Wish I still had that certificate...

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
