I'am in need of communications UHF/VHF From Base Station To Remote
Mtn Site Radio, Solar Powered, There Is NO VAC Power/Internet/WiFi Land-Line Available, To Date Only TNC & a Repeater Controller

Looking For Hardware & Software To Allow This.

Once Comm Established Would Like To Be Able To Shell To/
Enter Laptop Windows ie; 98,SE,XP Desktop,ect to Operate/Run a
Windows Base Software Program via Base Radio/PC

I've Been Searching, No Luck, I'am Convinced I'am Not The Only Ham
Who Has This Requirement/Feature Desire.

Have a Very Remote Mountian Top Repeater/WX Station Project,
Only Communications Access Is The Air Waves.

Any All Thoughts Welcomed.

Thanks

Will go and check them out, I have used echolink before from house PC/
Internet, that is my extended knowledge so far, it appears that maybe
a echolink system at the mtn remote site, once accessed via radio
would allow access/shell to Windows Desktop.

Since we have no internet, WiFi access at this location and most likely
never can/will, the echolink internet access is not important to us.
Thank's Again

If u have line of sight to where u want to put the remote radio you could use wifi as a local area network to talk to the radio and use echolink over the lan. I.e. you don't need internet just two wifi cards with antenna sockets and directional dishes.

Been looking into Echolink, got into contact w/EchoLink Repeater Admin,
Not Sure right now if EchoLink could be used, let say in Reverse.

We have a straight line of site 2000agl.

We are not interested in Internet connections/communications
supported from this project site.

We can link to site via TNC, the problem exist with,
Want to be able to get to Laptop Windows Desk Top to Open
a/some Windows OS software.

It would be like using Windows Remote Desktop Using Radio Frequency
vs the Internet, Email or IM for granting access/control of remote Desktop.

Still Looking, Thank's All

What are you wanting to do, exactly?

WiFi link would do what your wanting.

Without knowing exactly what it is your trying to do and a visual of your site, were shooting in the dark.

Unless you have big dreams and a little pocketbook.

Have a very remote Mtn top site project in the work's,
will have a APRS-WX station & UHF/VHF Repeater, 2000AGL
Have No Power except 6-solar panels, wet cell batteries. No WiFi,Phone, Nothing In Area For Support. Looking for alternatives besides running
Fiber-Optics From Phone company, have done this @ other sites and
linking repeater's by fiber-optics in this state.

Mtn site is aprox 60miles from here, from this site can connect to
other repeater, across state line w/ 5W HT, which is located locally
here.

Want to be able to access Mtn site, Using Radio Frequency and access a laptop Motherboard, using memory card reader/SD for Hard Drive. 9DB/USB CommPorts for Communication Link ports.
Most Likely use Win98/SE For OS. Want to get to Laptops Windows
Desk Top to Run 2 Windows OS Software, 1 at a time.

If This can be done, will install Skype, use it to view USB camera
2nd item, access Rockwell Software RSLogix500 PLC, Programmable
Control Logic Access MicroLogix PLC Processor which can controll anything AC/DC or Analog Input/Output at Site.

Biggest Item Is Camera, So Far Best Bet Is HAM TV

P.C. Electronics ATV Application Notes

Would Need Linear.

As far as The PLC goes, I can already do this with a TNC here at house,
@ Mtn Site, use TNC, Plugs into PLC Processors RS232C Com Port
which is configurable for Baud, ect. Mtn PLC would be Node-3.

In RSlink software (Network Viewer for RSLogix-500 Programming Software) Would show all Nodes 0-31, communicating or not.
Node-0 is always your PC, Node-1 is Main PLC SLC5/03 Here at
my place and Node-2 Is the HMI CTC-PS10-Touchscreen also here at the
house. My house is/can be operated by a touchscreen(s) mounting into
the wall here. As you gathered I do PLC for a living.

If I could find a way to access a win OS laptop using radio frequency,
even @ 9600Baud, it would open up a new world of things that could be
done thru radio frequency. To date nobody I've found does this.

Email a mgr producing TNC's,WX-APRS interfaces, They never heard of this
option, they commented it might be done, might be slow, not sure, it
might happen w/them someday, until then, I'am still seeking a solution
and with todays tech, it should be possible. Thank's

Thank's For All Help's

To date, this cannot be achieved for the distance range involved
at a lower cost level for the common person.
Will not run Fiber-Optics due to return investment projected time period
and not enough residential/business in area to supply a WiFi system.
Back to the drawing board and or wait for someone like Byonics to
back this feature possible.
Thank's Again all for your time & Help w/This 73's KF4OYP

I'm still not really sure what you are trying to do. Access a PC in an area with no internet? What distances are involved? Is there line of site to the camp?

Yes would like to connect to a windows OS remote PC,(uses a mini/nano
ATX/ITX motherboard, 12vdc, 4GB Compact Flash w/OS installed, Win98SE).
No CDRom, Floppy,HD, Kybd,Mouse,CRT Installed.

http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-5...0001&campid=5336136228&icep_item=280726739553

All powered by solar
panels. Direct line of site from another repeater, aprox 60 miles.
Can work this site w/TNC @ 5W.

It would seem simple, but, only be able to use HAM Radio Frequency
from here at house/repeater and get connected to other PC and get
to Desk Top to run a Win OS Software.
There is no internet there, nothing, just 12vdc solar.

If any TNC Mgr made a program that once connected as SYSOP/Admin
to remote TNC Would Allow Us to Shell/exit out of the TNC to
Windows Desktop or even C:\ This is what I need to happen

Granted @ 1200 or 9600 Baud, Slow, Thats should be OK, I would
only like to access 1 program for brief monitoring.

Thank's Again
Still looking & praying

Thank's Hope This Helps Better Explain's 73's KF4OYP

Thank's for eveyones input's & help w/this

To Date, I have found nobody that has accomplished this,
I believe this would open up some new doors, Not being a programmer,
I fell this might be just a software revision for a piece of hardware that
already comms/programed with a PC using a HAM Radio.

Found this tonight, DOS Based Will Allow Shell to DOS Prompt, ie; C:\
Going to download and start checking out.

They have a Windows 16Bit Version To date, did not see anything
to allow Shell to Dos Prompt or ect.

Console-commands FBB BBS.

I dont recommend this but many trojans like back orifice and netbus support win9x and will let you map a dos prompt to a ip port and let u telnet in remotely. I would like to dissuade u from running windows because both it and the hardware it runs on are energy inefficient and any command line system will be more feasable. There would be a very slow refresh rate for the monitor over those frequencies comparable to slow scan television. For instance shutting win down over c-line would require rundll32 user, exitwindows. Not easy at all. Linux would be more suitable mapping ssh port to a tcpip port, once logged in over wifi lan then use getty to open command port on transceiver. I undestand the command set is simple. An embedded solution may be the way to go. Try google for voip wifi router. They support plugging in landline telefone so any phone patch interface should work to hook up transceiver. Some routers support reflashing with linux like ddwrt etc and have usb port to hook to radio via serial converter. If not u could have a usb fone hooked to radio and pass commands over dialup terminal program like puTTy. I think wifi is the way to go because it is secure and fcc and its ilk does not allow encryption.

Think I Found The Needle In Hay Stack

Packettengine Pro Software $49.00
SV2AGW.com (HAM Section)

Quote: A station w/Internet access could provide Internet access to a station that dosen't have it.
TCP/IP over Radio, Packett Radio/TNC to create a wireless TCP/IP
Network to exchange email, surf the Web, ect.
Max Baud Rate 9600.
Granted Slow, But might be OK for My App.
They have a 30 day trial on software.
Not sure about much else yet.
