RCI 2980 WX

Hi .
On my RCI 2980 WX when the RF power knob is set at 25 for example on the meter it reads
5 watts. Are the markings ( 0 - 50 ) for the RF power knob PEP readings?
I guess I dont understand the compairison between the knob settings and the meter reading.

I'm not sure if there is actually supposed to be a correlation, but if there is, it's PEP. I don't think I've ever seen a base radio with the 0-50 variable that matched what the variable was set at.
