I have an RCI 2990 that has very low receive. I can hear strong stations yet there is no signal on the S meter. When I key up a radio on the bench beside it I get signal on the S meter but it's not pegged out and adjusting the RF gain doesn't do anything, S meter stays in the same place.

I have checked the RF Gain potentiometer and it seems to be okay. I even put another potentiometer in circuit and nothing changed. I checked Q18 (HF Amp) and the voltages were similar to a working 2950 I have. (E - 3.78v | C - 8.49v | B - 3.22v) but a little off from the voltages listed on cbtricks (E -1.41 | C - 7.73 | B - 2.51)

Can anyone point me in the direction of what to check next? Should I pull Q18 and replace with a new 2sc1674? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
