I wish the high power radio trend would stop. They are making it to hard to run radios with amps nowadays. I dont want to have to turn a radios output power down every time. And even then its still to high sometimes. Stick with the old school 12w or 25w pep.

As in the earlier (longer) thread on this radio, the radio size and available power make it an E-Z big truck installation as most high power radios are physically too big.

Power is ENOUGH to get past big truck antenna-mount deficiencies. More than this isn’t likely very effective. Less than this leaves some potential performance behind.

That said: Can that power in a C-29 case survive a semi-enclosed install location (big trucks feature a flush-fit into the overhead console)?

About all it needs is a separate power cable.

Aaanndd, someone else gets to be the guinea pig.

I think the high powered radios have their place. One hundred watts would be a good driver for an SB220, or would be fine by itself so a kl203 won't be needed.

A radio like this would be good for guys in trucking that are slip seating especially if it doesn't pull too many amps. I know some guys will get a box with radio + small amp like a KL203 but something like this for 100 watts with sideband would be pretty nice.

It's why I got out of it.

Many routes are coast to coast, they want two or more drivers under that same load so they don't have to stop except for Fuel and P-stop.

Gets pretty hard to live with 2 or more OTR being crammed into a Cab about the size of a closet. All their luggage takes up the Rest - and of course - the BBQ grill and Cooler is a necessity.

Welcome! Hopefully the price will be reasonable to compete with the Anytone and Lincoln 2+. Unfortunately I think its going to be in the Stryker 955 range, but we will see. I am thinking about getting one for the truck.
