That all depends on how into it u want to get. If your serious about it then u will want a good table top receiver. The best antenna is a longwire. u can buy them or find instructions on the web to make one. Also some really good books and info on the net about broadcasts from all over the world. Keep an eye out for sales at Radio Shack on their shortwave radios. Any one of the shortwave radios the Shack has, will be very good for starting. A simple wire antenna at least 60 feet long will be great. A subscription to Popular Comunications Magazine will keep you up to date on frequencies.
