Yeah no locals here anymore! I look at the price of equipment and its no wonder. If you're like most you have a map or two on the wall of your shack? If you want to see where I am you'll see why I'm so isolated. Look at an Arkansas map, in the bottom S/W corner is a town called Eldorado. Now draw a line about 20 miles due west...not much there!

There are lots of Arkansas operators on 26.795 and 26.915, both AM mode. I hear them up here often. The group on 915 are all great folks !
Not sure which part of Arkansas they are in though......

They still sell Toshiba 2290's at RF parts for $115 each plus shipping .

As for the stamp and number that may have been on it that guy prolly used rubbing alcohol to remove it to make it look new. I'm happy you alcohol tested it and I'm glad its an original 2290.
That 2290 is the original. I can almost guarantee it from the looks of the glue on the screws being untouched.
There's got to be an issue in the PA section which is all those capacitors around and including the 3 copper coils. Try if you can when your feeling better or up to it to get as good a look as you can to the 2 green capacitors between the 3 coils for burn marks. Or any of them around that area and let me know if you find something please.

Can anyone here recommend Q5 communications? In Wisconsin? I have a radio I'd liked to get aligned and gone through just to make sure everything is up to par and working properly.

Never had and work completed by Q5. I had spoke to the shop on the tele. My understanding is the he does not do unnecessary work and does not want to sell you the Super, Mega, Jimmy jerk Job, Quantum Tune 2025, or whatever they call it this month. He will tune for clean performance. I had called them about a K40 radio with the speech processor in the radio, the tech knew what I was talking about, and said that it was not the greatest design to start with and best investment would be to let it die. He did not say, "What the hell is that? I will sell you a new Stryker and you will be happy." Hope this helps you.

I sent Dr. Oz (Steve Kerns) in Springfield a Galaxy 93T Jan-2nd, he don't keep me posted, and when I contact him he gets mad and tells me my radio has BUGS in it. I have to text he won't answer the phone, I've already paid him $240.00 CASH, I've ask him to just send it back but he wont and I'm at the point of pleading for some kind of satisfaction and being ignored. I told him I hated having to trust strangers so now he said I called him a thief. I have all this on my phone, I don't know what to do now but eat it? My rig was super clean used as a base so I guess I'll see it on EBAY

I remember your radio, was at shop when he opened radio up. Then had to help them move everything thing out of the shop so it could be fumigated for BUGS !
