Everything you need to know about the average dim witted amateur radio operator can be seen in how they responded to the HR2510/2600/Lincoln. You can be intellectualy intelligent but also ignorant, small minded, hate filled and petty! The smarter one thinks one is usually the dumber the person actualy is. Think "Dunning-Kruger effect".It would be nice if one of these "companies" would come out with a real ten meter rig for new techs. This radio is clearly aimed at eleven meters operators and not hams, yes I get that it has some "features" of an actual ham rig but in my opinion as soon as there is a channel knob and display you know it's intended audience. Get rid of the channel selector and give the radio a real vfo, that would still appeal to eleven meter operators.
All and all there will never be a true ten meter rig. Merry Christmas and 73 all.
Who is going to build an affordable amateur radio a real one when it wont sell if priced affordably and will be villified by amateurs on the air and the internet in the USA and Europe? Better to avoid that meisreble lot entirely. The global market in 2nd and 3rd world countries for "export" radio's is far larger than the global market in first world nations for "real" ham radio gear. Look at the stupidly high price people will pay for many of the current higher end export radio's!
I fool people all the time with great sounding audio reports and lie my butt off about the gear I am using. If I told the truth I would never get a compliment. I do it on CB and amateur radio. Sadly a lot of people are heavily invested in idea's and beliefs that have no basis in reality. A lot of people base value and quality on things as meaningless as price. If it cost more it must be better sort of things and a lot of other cognitive biases.
There is a huge gap between the people that can make an affordable feature rich radio and the end consumer and what is really wanted. Look at how many attempts it took Toyota to get the full size truck right for America. In the end it took design teams int he USA to get it right the fantastic engineers in Japan just did not "get it"!
