Yeah, I can grab some pics inside but I don't know if it will help. It has an actuator to change channels and makes a cool clicky sound and has a scan option, which with the clicks I think would become real annoying real quick.
No idea, but it couldn't hurt.
I did find a unit with the box and manual on fleaBay, but 70 bucks just to get the manual seems a little steep. Although it would probably be you and some guy that doesn't know he's got one stashed in his attic that have the last two copies in North America.

I think I found the manual online in pdf form, but it only really includes the block diagram and no schematic.

I may have to figure it out the hard way. I don't think there is another similar enough to use as a guide. I have found what appears to be a mylar capacitor that has split into 3 pieces, like it was delaminated. Thanks everyone!
Edited to add, I have found 4 destroyed mylar caps. An electrolytic recap is in the works, as well as a complete mylar recap. Cleaning the channel switch brought all channels back to life and surprisingly half are within 20hz. For the record, I have never cared about a 23 channel radio, but this one has a hook in me.

Be nice to the relay. Never clean the contacts with anything stronger than a strip of copy paper soaked in solvent. IIRC it looks like an american-made cradle relay but it's not. It's japanese. Each of the four pins down the center row connects to a NO/NC pair to one side or the other. The first center-row lug goes to the left-hand pair on a jap relay. Goes to the right-hand pair on american-made parts. A japanese-made relay is just different.

Thank you nomad, I will keep that in mind. I did notice the relays, the actuator and the hard-to-find parts contained within and will remain cognizant. Since this is a greatly undocumented radio, that is foremost in my mind. There is no doubt the details you mentioned will hit differently in the morning, but right away I realize I am dealing with something unique. Fortunately the relays are acting right and stock performance is in my mind. The s/rf meter is giving the most fit. The s/RF meter is open circuit. I swapped the meters and display backer as signal/RF is more important than swr in my mind. I noticed the meters are quite small. The hard part is figuring out which VR or inductor does what. However, with enough experiment, and experience, the function becomes evident. I respect your guidance and willingness to help. Thanks again Chris.
I am surprised at the amount of wire ties throughout this radio. I can't imagine it's factory. That's a lot of ungrounded inductors floating around.
This is a VERY rare radio. And, of course, hardly any info available on it. The 40 Channel version of this chassis is the GT-410B, and its info is in Sam's CB-191. Main difference is the 7C is crystal controlled, and the 410B is PLL. The rest is not exactly the same, but close enough for government work. Good Luck with this. Looks like a fun rig, especially the solenoid channel selector. 73.

I will give him a call, last time we spoke he seemed really busy but was still efficient at finding what I needed. Thanks JJ, I didn't realize he carried those documents.
I called, he said he had the owners manual that included the schematic but no service manual. That's okay, a service manual would be too easy I suppose, but the schematic alone should suffice, assuming it's quality and readable. If not prohibited, I will scan and post it up. Thanks for putting me on to Ken's, I would never have looked there for a schematic, a crystal or obscure part maybe but not that.
