Nice rig, Zman! I have one that I bought a few years ago and it is fun to play on. Very good adjacent channel rejection, btw. Good talkers with a D104 or Turner Plus 3.
I had one in my teens that I had modded for upper channels. It was set up to use the external freq button. Never looked into the lowers since all the locals talked on 27.505 AM at the time.
Have fun with it, but please keep it cool with a fan.

How you liking it ? Any issues with it much ? Did you get extra channels put in, as I want to ?
I have one needs some work but I will let it go for the shipping....it does power on and transmits the squelch is kinda goofy..
2 cycles ago i had one for my base extra channels running a pdx 400 into a moonraker 4 on a 40 foot tower,,,talked over pretty much the whole usa,,, in my 70 monte carlo at the same time,, i was running a colt midnight special,,, hence where i got my handle,,, yes the colt was tube type but it fit under the dash and in the winter made it warm in there,,, nice rig no doubt
I own one. I Have yet to open the box it's been sitting in for about 30 years. I used it with a thunderbolt 101and talked all over the world (sigma 4 day's).
If I recall it's a great rig. Excellent audio with a d104 and the recive was very nice.
I think it's the same chassis as the midnight special, colt and a few others. A few different buttons and switches but basically the same.

Okay just scored another Robyn 540D and is to arrive today wow so glad about that... Does ANYBODY know for sure contrete info on adding upper channels in this radio ? The only batch of info I really see is from CB Tricks in the Secret CB books so I'm wondering if someone can confirm it really works and if there is ANY improvements or if it's pretty much it best as can thus far on the documents to do it ? ?
