k-po dx5000 radio. it has digital boxes for it's S meter. could a replacement "sweep" meter be wired in from an experienced technician? it's my base, so i wouldn't care if it was super glued to the outside of the case. best "throw away radio" i ever used.

Not familiar with that one. The digital S-meter is still being fed from an analog voltage out of the receiver detector circuits. RCI radios that use the bar-graph S-meter in a mobile model are also made with an analog meter in other models. Same main circuit board, different meter hookups. The meter tends to have a high sensitivity, usually around 200 or 250 microAmps full scale. Just where you would tap it in is a whole 'nother question. That's the kind of mod that calls for a schematic diagram as the starting point.

it's a clone of the anytone q5 with red display and knobs instead of buttons. i can't view pdf files on my telephone, ill see if i can find a technician that can look at it at cbtricks where they have the schematics. the only business i have inside a radio is for visual observation if something goes wrong and pure curiosity to just eyeball the technology inside. thank you for your answer. i just miss the sweep meter for incoming signal, and when tapping into something meant splicing in a couple wires.
