Don't be so sure. Yaesu is not immune. The best bet is to know how to spot the fakes and buy from a reputable dealer and not from Ebay or some internet store in Hong Kong.

I can't find the page right now but yes, even Yaesu (Vertex Standard) are being counterfeited. the Icom problem has been going on for several years but has gotten worse in the last year or two.
