I hear there's gonna be a few crates of Gainmasters at Dayton.

At least a guy can save a little on shipping.

Should be easy to find, just listen and look for a gaggle of grumbling hoo hawing QRZ hat wearing curmudgeons.

The real fun is always at the "HeathKit Booth" that's where they set up the "Ring"....that's where you'll find the best "Round Girls"
:D:pop:
All the Best

BJ, I read where Heathkit went bust again after only a few months of trying to get back into operations. They made a recent press release that claimed all of the officers had resigned.

Same as I heard...Several weeks back...
I doubt we will see a "reorginize" without "Outsider $$$" interest in the company...
If they would have dropped the "Educational" market garbage (they were never a factor or compatative):bdh:
and brought back the HL-1000A/B/C????(Ameritron AL-80A)...
They would still be around IMHO

All the Best

Most hams are hypocrits. They talk down CBers but most of them started out on CB. Im a 5 WPM General but i spend more time on CB than the ham bands because i find most hams boring to talk to and listen to..

Not quite sure what is your point. :confused1: Are you degrading the Gainmaster?

I gather a lot of info from the Zed, on amplifiers, antennas etc.etc.

I do not post to much there as anything and everything seems to be about how much you know and what degree of EE you are. Too many Ego's need feeding.

I agree the description is pretty light compared to what I thought a few times about some of the replies on the Zed.

The same boring conversations can be found on any band not just the ham bands so let's put it in perspective.

I listen a lot more than I key the mic. Either on the ham bands or on 11 meters.

Good QSO's can be found on all of the bands.

The slang on 11 meter's is really humorous, you will not hear "I just got down" on the amateur bands but it is funny to listen to the power wars on 11 meters.

The super bowl? I have never heard so many high power stations talking to no one but themselves.

I talk on 11 meters also, There are many ops who use SSB as the only mode, some of their rigs are TS-480's, FT-1000's, FT-101's and assorted various export rigs. They take the hobby as serious as the licensed amateurs do. Even to the art of building their own antennas. None of them are licensed.

So whether it is 11 meters or ham the hobby is the hobby for all to enjoy.

I find this endless garbage being spread time after time on this board and other's...
Quite frankly I find it BS!...I am on the air almost all of my spare time and it's totally unfounded!
30+ years now as a Ham...40+ years being around hams...
I am beginning now to believe that when I hear:
"Hams are just Rude" ...."Hams are Stuck-Up"...blah,blah...etc!!!
You guys that post this garbage over and over again and others that stick a "I like that" on every thread that this comes up....
I'll tell you LIDS exactly where the problems lies....
Look in the DAMN Mirror!
Get the DAMN chip off your shoulder and jump down off that "I am holier than thou Stump" your standing on....Your the guys with the problems not US!
"I'm a 5 WPM General"..... OH ya "Your Special"!

All the Best

Nope, just making a point about how some HAMS will admonish this "CB" antenna around their buddies, then secretly order one for themselves. I am not a HAM or CB basher, been licensed since 1974. Talked on CB's few years before that. Still enjoy both.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
