The skyhawk is a 2 element quad beam antenna made by signal engineering.

I would like to get some advice on this antenna.

How easy are they to put together?

Is it that much better than a Imax 2000. I know they're different animals.

I'm buying a different antenna for my base and it's between these two antennas.

any and all comments welcome.

I don't know anything specific about Signal Engineering's antennas so can't say anything about how easy they are to put together. But, if their 2 element quad is at least comparable to other 2 element quads, it should be quite a bit 'better' than using an Imax 2000, in specific directions! There really isn't any valid comparison between the two type antennas.
The 'bad' part about using a quad is the other stuff you'll need to take advantage of it's abilities. Like a rotor, heavy pole or tower, assorted cabling etc. Using both antennas would be the 'best' of two worlds, sort of (not considering the cost though).
Oh well, you didn't want that one anyway, right?
