Hello all , I have this transistor that I'm trying to ID and locate a source for it , I think I have it sussed out , but I want to be sure . As the picture shows WB then turn it sideways it says B4 , I looked in the SMD code book and it says the WB is a 2SD1383K , Nope not mine different package ETC ETC ... The B4 has 3 listings in the SMD code book and the one that matches mine is a BSV52R . I can find the BSV52 but not the R version , the R is a Reverse toggle package , the BCE is turned around .... Am I correct on the part # ?? If anyone has this part I will buy it , oh BTW it's a part for a TV power supply board , nowhere on the internet can a schematic or service manual be found .... Thanks in advance for any advice or help ...

Of course you can't. It's most likely a custom exclusive part for that manufacturer. They don't want the board to be repaired, only replaced.
What a racket.
Good luck with your search.

Yes there are several on the board and it is a NPN transistor, like I said it's a R version and that's the one I can't find ..... I'm pretty sure I researched it right , but there's always a lil doubt in my mind , I'm tooo careful like that, I'm an OLD school tech from the late tube early solid state era. The 70's sure has changed in 40 plus years , I didn't need a SMD code book and a high dollar hot air rework station back then....

This may not be a BJT or even a Darlington amp - but a diode steering package.

...like Transient protection devices - similar to what they use now for what used to be PIN diode sections...

You sure about this?

The board does have the SOT 23 packages on it that are in fact diodes , they are marked with the D42 ETC silkscreen on the board... This one and the others like it are marked Q153 ETC.... This R package has the Emitter on the top pin and the lower left is the Collector the bottom right is the Base , every thing checks on my meter and component tester ...... I wish I could find the documentation on this board when it was submitted to the UL or whatever company that the prototype and BOM is turned into for review.....The TV is a Vizio but the board is LGIT as in LG products... PCB P/N is 3PCGC10038A-R DOM 12/4/19 Thanks for the reply Handy Andy ...

I replace these bad SMT transistors with good old style TO-92 devices.
NPN - 2N3904, 2N2222. PNP - 2N3906.
I leave long leads on them, and solder to the circuit board solder traces.
Easy to bend the long leads to go in the correct place. (EBC)
Hold the transistor with some tweezers, while looking under
the magnifying glass. I do the same with capacitors and resistors.
I posted in here how I recently repaired a RCI-2995 with this method.

on these newer LCD TV sets, I have repaired several, when the screen
backlight would fail. The problem was an electrolytic filter capacitor
for the backlight power supply.

.
and Boudreaux in Eunice! I am down the bayou from you.
time to heat up some Best Stop boudin for a snack with my beer!!

Gotdoggit nonc' you must be in Ossun or Scott , yep I'm just a little west of you in Eunice..... I called my engineering buddy Bill , he was the engineer at my Coozan's radio station here in town , KBON he told me I was right to doubt myself , cause there's more than one WB and that's the code I have to go by, not the B4 that's a date code and / or a country code , Malaysia , India , China ETC ETC .....As it seems that very well could be a 2N4007 Series , a mosfet , so I'll have to pull another one , I lost the first one while holding it with my pen vise..... I looked all over and never could find that lil booger .... Do you remember a Savoie who went by Streaker that owned a radio shop in Rayne at Frog City truckstop / casino ??

Well, this website is viewed worldwide, so relatively speaking, I am down the
bayou from you. On the Bayou near Thibodaux. And I am not originally
from these parts of the country but been through Rayne quite a few times.
Listened to KBON while out there.

any progress on that board?

Naw just what I wrote in the last reply , I had to inventory some parts and print the labels for the drawer's today , I got a small order in today , just 300 pieces . I might slide one of those WB B4's off the board later and check it 3 times just to be sure LOL..... I got a few friends in Houma and Chauvin , we'll be going down there a couple times this year .... We run a butterfly net on Little Calliou bayou down there...
