In an event reminiscent of some of the Discovery Channel Mythbusters' most spectacular explosions, the Sun on June 7, 2011, starting at about 06:41 UT unleashed one of the most spectacular prominence eruptions ever observed, in fact, one could call it a "prominence explosion". Ya I agree!, If you go down load and view the Vid`s from the sight it is awesome!
When you start to think how friggin big that thing is.......all you can say is WOW.

The thing i find unbelievable is that the Explosion blast`s all that material out into space, and the sheer gravity sucks it right back in......
I have always liked looking in on the SOHO site, have for years, the little picture in my signature is linked to SOHO, that is why I give credit to them.
They spend Billions of dollars to keep a watchful eye on old sol.
If you have time to go back through the gallery, there are some awesome images there, but this is right up there at the top.

i remember this back in june, i had no dx conditions and the sounds on the radio were of magnetic interference.

communications were definitely affected in some places, i remember reading of airplane flights that were rerouted because of areas that were being affected and would lose radio comms
