One of these contact levers is not like the others...

The Uniden-built 40-channel SSB CB radios from 1978 used the uPD858 PLL chip, and had one of these relays in them. Made by Omron, type MX3P. Discontinued decades ago, they last a long time if treated with respect. They pop up from time to time on fleabay.

But if cleaning the contacts with a strip of typing paper and solvent won't cure a noise, or fix a tendency to drop out you'll need a new relay. Just don't EVER use any kind of abrasive on the contact points. Just paper and solvent.

This relay was overheated, causing one contact lever to darken, compared to the color of the other two. You'll have to bite the bullet and track down a new one if you see this.

Probably.

Had a hard time getting the camera to show the color contrast between the two good levers and the one that overheated.

Just couldn't resist.

I just used a couple Omron G2RL types in my TRC-449 rather than tracking down the weirdo. They used to make a larger 3PDT common in Sansui 9090/DB stereo's, but it was bigger and now disco'd.

I purchased a batch of these, probably a decade ago from a US seller on eBay that had a significant bunch of them for years it seemed. They went into my just in case box along with some pulled uPD858 PLL's amongst other things.

I had an obsession with President Adams and a few variants like the 449 etc. so i thought they'd come in handy.
