STARDUSTER M400

Mine fell apart back in the 80's. Winds broke
the top and a couple of radials off.
We had about 6 stardusters owners in our small town, the
tops were broke off all them. I fixed mine and still to
this day have it down my cellar in storage.
Sorry, but, not one of my favorite antennas.
Glad you had good luck with yours! Thats all that
counts....

Here come the flames....

It's a fine antenna. It works just like a center fed halfwave dipole should! Not very strong though. It was very popular with the Fransis Amazer conversion.

They made a 5/8 wave version too. You could identify those by the coils on the 4 elements.

If it works to your satisfaction and you like it, good enough for me!

Yes, the Starduster is a decent performer.
But, because it only lasted 3 years for me, thats
why it's not on my favorites list.
I was wrong before about the year. I bought it
in 1975 and it lasted until 1978-79.
I remember talking on my CB radio and seeing a
object flying by my bedroom window. I looked
out and the top of the duster was sticking in
the snow. Later that night 2 radials also broke off.
SWRS went wild on it, so, i had to hook a mobile
antenna up to use until the cold weather and winds calmed
down enough to replace the duster.

Have an a/s starduster that I bought back around 1980 still up still works fine, very broadbanded and I get very good reports running qrp with no tuner.

While driving yesterday i seen 1 remaining StarDuster
in my hometown. Top is broke off. Most people around
here have up Beams, A-99s and Imaxs.
My friend had a 5 element Hy-gain beam up years ago, but,
winds mangled it. Went to Jo-Gunn beam has had no
problems.
A-99 and Imax seem to do well around here for taking the winds and weather also.
I don't care what kind of antenna you have, if its working
good and staying up for ya---High five!
