My friend is planning a radio shack addition on the back of his house and was wondering if steel studs could be inferior to wood. Could they pickup and radiate stray RF etc.
(I tried to google it, but internet searches are increasingly lacking these days unless one wants to buy something.)

Look up Faraday cage...

You also bring up another point about the "spacing" of the metal studs and what will be used to form a mesh in which to shield your equipment.

The subject isn't dead, just Google is trying to tie in Prepping and shielding from EMP's and Electromagnetic Shielding which people are attempting to do - so the search usually brings you to places Google wants you to buy from.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes

Wes, it's better if you start a thread on the main forum, more people are going to see your question.
