I just got a new Chevy Truck. I mounted the 2950 under the dash, but there is no leg room. It is a kneebuster.

Does anyone have a suggestion for mounting radios in a late model chevy?

Skeeterman,

very surprised to hear of the lack of space under the dash in the new Chevy Truck.

I have a similar problem in my R32 Skyline.

Have you thought about mounting it centre on the headlining.

I've seen this done in some 4X4 and trucks in Australia.

Most of the installs I've done on late model Chevys the radio was on the floor hump with a CB console, pedestal, or saw tooth brackets.

I'm not familiar with this model truck, but does it have a center console between the seats? If so will it fit there?

The center console goes all the way to the Dash. There is no hump to mount on anymore. There is a factory CD Holder and cassett deck where the hump was in the pre 2000 models.

I guess I could mount it like Eduk8tr's, but I hate to give up the storage in the console.

Still just a kneebuster...

There are sturdy pedestal mounts available that can be bolted to the floor right beside the console.

Like Doc said "Join the club". I am pressed to find a decent spot in my new 2005 Ford Escape to mount the control head for my FT-857. That's right, just the control head.Full floor console right from the dash panel all the way back between the front seats.I'm looking at a pedestal mount just for the head and even then it will have to be positioned over top of the 12 volt outlet that I use for the GPS and right in front of the gear shift.Manufacturers keep claiming that their new cars have "more interior room" and "more cargo space" so why is it so D@#N hard to mount a radio or even a tiny control head for one.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/mad.gif ALT=">:"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/mad.gif ALT=">:"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/frown.gif ALT=":(">
