Where to start. Radio works fine but after a few hours the receive starts to become "warbled" on both am and sideband, similar to if you were off freq. and you would adjust your clarifier.
But no amount of adjustment to the coarse or fine adjusts it. If you turn if off for a half hour and turn it back on it's ok again till it gets warm. This is a stock radio and never been molested.

What would be your method to try to test to determine whats wrong?
Is there a componet that shows these signs?
Thanks

get a can of freeze spray and spray single parts with it to see if you can cool the part down to locate what area is getting hot . a can of air from walmart will cool the parts down when sprayed to see if you can find it.
this would be a start for you to find what part is heating up. does transmit still work fine when this happens?

I saw it do it in his truck, got it on the bench won't do it after it was on for 10 hours with a desk lamp over the board to get it warm.

What size wire is being used in the truck to the radio? Also where is the radio mounted in the truck, is there a vent or is it near the floor or closed in? And last, what kind of antenna system is he using in the mobile? Try figure out if the problem is related to the vehicle itself since you can't reproduce it on the bench. Good luck and hope you get is resolved.
