OK, I was try to lower the Deadkey and it was good for 1/2 a minute of deadkey adj. and watts just dropped all the way down to .2-.3 watts. No swing @ all in all modes. Could it be the finals blew?

Its my cousins radio. yesterday as we were talking on AM it had intermittent cut off. I thought it was the mic but it wasnʻt. Dang, could it be the finals. AM SSB and FM modes are all dead. It couldnʻt even key my amp.

What usually goes out, just the finals or both D & F?????

You can lift 2 of legs on the final and driver transistor and check with ohm meter in the diode check mode. Also check the VR with ohm meter you were adjusting to make sure it is adjusting the resistence.Look the bottom the of the board over good for bad solder joints too.

OK, Iʻll check the solder side. It has watts but very minimal. Thanx, Aloha. James.....

Something is loose but its not the VR. I tapped the case and it keyed then no watts then keys up again. think Im sending it in.

Before you send it in, check the solder joints on the 2SD754 (large green-bodied transistor mounted to the case). This is the Modulator output that provides power to the finals in all modes. Broken joints here are a common problem. Good luck. 73s
