My radio shows High off the scale swr so I checked my coax /antenna with mfj 259 and also a swr meter and on the meters the swr is 1.5 on freq that I am checking everything on.

I will put a short jumper on radio to known good 50 ohm dummy load and see if radio still shows high.

What would have happend in radio to be causing this?

From what you've said I have to assume that the radio has an SWR meter built into it which is showing a high SWR. And the '259' and another SWR meter shows that the SWR is not high. If that's correct, then I would have to think that the built-in SWR meter isn't right. I have no idea why that's so.
I think putting that radio, and the '259' and the other SWR meter on a dummy load to see what happens is a very good idea. It will at least give you an indication of their accuracy.
Those built-in SWR meters have a reputation of being wrong at least part of the time, almost all of them, and people who have experienced such as you are seeing, seldom pay attention to them. Why manufacturers use them seems to be a mystery.

Yea your right on the built in meters being not so accurate so I never paid a lot of attention to them but it all of a sudden jumped to the max swr and the radio has a built in protection if the swr goes over 3 and reduces the power. Oh I forgot to say it is my IC-7000 that is doing this on 10 meter.

I will hook the meters/ MFJ259 and then radio after work and find out what it tells me.

Thanks,
AP

I used to know an amateur radio guy some years ago that used to do all he could to piss his neighbors off with his radio. Finally one day one of them put a screw through his coax and it took him forever to figure that one out. You haven't made enemies have you?
