symtoms of a blown final

how do i know i lost a final on a cb radio..what to look at..

here is a piece of test equipment we all have. your ears.

take another radio and place it close to the radio that you think has a blown 'final'. key the defective radio and talk, whistle, fart, whatever. if you can hear it on the 2nd radio, your chances of having a blown final is pretty good. this indicates audio for modulation is reaching the driver, and the driver is using that audio to modulate the rf it is amplifying. in other words, everything will 'seem' to be working up to the driver.

ok jus test it has audio on the 2nd radio..shows half the power..

sounds like everything is working up to the driver and stopping once it gets to the 'final'.
