Teflon or bakelite connectors?

Is tthere really a big difference between teflon and bakelite Insulators that are in rf connectors? Ie: pl259, so239 etc....
Does it really matter?

I personally think Teflon holds up to heat (soldering heat) better than bake lite.

RF heat???????

A dielectric material is one that is a poor conductor of electricity, but an efficient supporter of electrostatic fields. Teflon is much better suited than bakelite for the support of electrostatic fields while dissipating minimal energy in the form of heat. The Amphenol 831SP 1050 UHF connector uses teflon for the insulator.
