I drill through the top of the lower pipe about 1' below the top. I put 1/4-20 bolts through with nuts. The next upper pipe sits down on the bolt through the pipe below it. Most of the time I simply secure the lowest pipe to my privacy fence. I have put it against the house. Currently, they are at each of the 4 corners of my backyard privacy fence. No guys on them. When I do guy, I, being the cheap guy I am, use the nylon/polyester blend rope available everywhere. Good for 2 to 4 years usually. If I go over 3 sticks of the EMT I always guy at 3 points from just beneath the antenna feedpoint.
