Hi I just recently got a used Texas Ranger TR966 (936) and my buddies on the cb are telling me I am splatering them. I also run a cobra 148 and it is not causing the problem. I was wondering if maybe the limiter had been removed? I am not sure where to look in the radio to find where it should be, Is it a resistor, diode or transistor? and what would the replacement be what number/value so I can put it back in? Other than that problem the radio seems to be nice.

I guess the 936 and 966 are basically the same radio. Anyone able to help me with the limiter problem?

If the radio is tuned correctly, he wont have to turn the mic gain down. That radio is capable of being operated with full mic gain, VERY loud audio, with no harmonic distortion (no bleedover), IF it hasn't been hacked by removing or otherwise disabling the limiter, and IF the AMC level is set correctly.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
