Texas Ranger TR696F SSB RX ok, AM TX ok, SBB TX very weak

Brandon, hey wanted to ask you, what is the rectangular board with the 3 clips near the back? I see this design on all rangers. What is it used for and what is it's purpose? I been messing around with 148's/2000's for a long time and Uniden doesn't use that design. I'm just curious. Thanks.

You must be talking about the mirror board. Its just a jumper. The right clip is power from the passthrough regulator, the middle clip is the final's collector and the left clip is the driver's collector. Removing the mirror board cuts the power to the driver and final.

On the cobra/washington, the two wires do the same thing.

Those clips are how you set the bias. You remove the board and attach a current meter.

This particular board will give you trouble during the transmit alignment procedure. TP6, just forget it. Don't even try.

When you get to that point, the rest is already aligned, so just put 1kHz into the mic and adjust L24 and L25 by monitoring the output frequency (channel frequency -1kHz for LSB and +1kHz for USB, so on ch19LSB with 1kHz in, you adjust for an output of 27.184)

ok I'm not touching anything the radio works really good. only thing I need to do is check the bias which I have not yet preformed that yet. Need to check the service manual for the procedure

Same board as the 959 and 2547. SSB, mic gain down. Remove mirror board and use current meter between right clip and left clip, key and adjust driver pot to 50mA, move left clip over to middle and adjust final pot to 50mA. reinsert mirror board and youre done.
