Ok not much info out there about them other than dealers really like selling them along with their mod list.
Is there another Ranger that the boards are the same so we can mod ourselves with that info???

Not sure what "mods" you are wanting to do to that radio. At that price point I can think of many other radio's that are a much better value and will run circles around that radio.

Cut the clarifier loose, way better modulation swing, and up the output power.
Just watched a video on this radio. If you bought one bone stock I suppose you could do several things. Check it to see that it's on frequency, set modulation for 100%, and un-lock the clarifier. Maybe even a channel mod if it can be done. Should be a solid 40ish watt radio. If you need more power add a nice 2 pill amplifier.

I would like to do that stuff but I have to have instructions thats the problem!

Sounds like I picked the wrong expensive radio.
What's the intended purpose for the radio?

Mainly Am, Ssb, mobile, base?

There are better picks out there but I won't knock everything Ranger. I own a 2950dx6 and 2995dxcf both of which perform fantastic on ssb, but..... it took some work to get them to that point.

Tell us what the intended purpose for the radio is and I can guarantee that you'll get suggestions to guide you away from the ranger top one. For the price of the top one you can get a radio made by someone else that'll perform leaps ahead in every aspect.

a linear like a 300 or something.
If it has a single driver tube, this radio may be too big for it. That single driver tube was the right size for a 1973 radio that busted a gut to show 16 Watt peaks. Most any Magnum radio will show between two and three times that much. If it's a 300A, you can select Low side. That model drives the four final tubes directly in "Low" bypassing the driver stage altogether. This will protect the two driver tubes from excess drive power.

Then what in the world can I do with this radio, throw it in the river and start over??? seems like everyone else has the best radios and can cut modulation loose, up the power, clarifier etc but this radio can't do anything?
