Which would be the amp of choice.. The DX500 (non-variable) or the 667 (non-variable)? I'll be driving it with a Roger Bird tuned President Lincoln.

The 500 would be the best choice. A 667 is for low drive radio's and I think only comes in a variable model. Years ago a local ran a hot 2510 into a 667, about twice a year he would blow the keying transistor out in the 667. The 500 is a hands down all around better choice.
 
You made a good choice. Have known some that complained about 667s. Never heard a bad word about the 500.
