Just purchased a Texas Star Nice looking very clean Sweet Sixteen DX1600. Couldn't pass it up for the price i paid. When i opened it up to my surprise Has one item installed that I never Heard of, Bipolar Transistors=(RFP2879 17-3Q) If i needed a replacement. What could I Install in place of this item.??? I went to RF Parts and they don't list Them. Would a Pair of HG 2879 work? Any input would be appreciated.:(:(

I just did power wire upgrades to the amp and Inside 4 chokes I wound from Power Strip which i installed, to the back of all 4 output transformers. I also Added 3 120MM fans for cooling. I will take pictures and post it.

I do both top& bottom, Bottom is most important for sure Heatsink .But the top has heat from the 5 Watt wire wound resistor associated with the bios. Here are the pictures.I have a problem How do i add pictures to my posts????

Not bad at all.....
I would suggest a solid solder line buildup between each + voltage wire connection on the boards to the transformer voltage input wire.....
That short piece of printed circuit board is still current limiting......
Looks good....

  • @ Hambones amps:
Does anyone know if you can replace the 2290 in a galaxy dx 93t twin turbine with a 2sc2879 red dot? If so, what would have to be tuned?
  • @ ShadowDelaware:
Hambones the entire amp section would have to be retuned, and the rf transformers re wrapped.
