It really needs to be installed with a big a/c unit for those hot long Dx days so you don’t drip sweat on it and get a good jolt. It ok in the winter

Yes! That was a factory set-up...Rated a KW+ AM Mode...Very sought after, not very many built that way. Seen those sell in good/updated working order for $5,000+ USD...
Basket case versions can sell for $2K +/- if all parts there and chassis/and desk are in restorable condition.

Roughly $1,700 USD in 1958...
TODAY's USD = $15,000+ ...that's just for the Amp!
Add the matching Johnson Transmitter and that National HRO receiver you were looking at another $1,000+ USD in 1958

$5k ain’t near to the true value of one close to like-new. It’d be a bargain at that price.

$15k is a ways short of conversion price from 1958. (X10 is the rough start).

I wasn’t kidding about build a room around it.

Start to understand (study) what foreigners (Japanese, especially, with their profound respect for excellence) see in “American-made” during the 1920-1960 period.
