I need some help fully (or partially) understanding amp design. I have read quite a few posts and readings that you should drive 4 pill (Texas Star DX500) amps with only 1.5-2.5 watts, yet, 667’s and 1X4’s alike are usually driven with a 2290 pill (60W +/-). Maybe I just don’t understand the circuitry.
Can someone clarify?
Thanks!

youre understanding just fine . on a few old radios that cant do more than 7-10 watts or less pep a driver for a 4 pill could be useful . anything new today will do 20 watts or more pep and 16 or so watts will drive a DX500 to its full peak clean ability .

texas star is even building switchable class c biasing into their amps now ........ :(
its all about the money made by missinformation/lies in the cb business .
