Uniden Pro510xl

sure that little 510 can me modded a bit !! .....any good ? ...there really not bad at all ,especially for the price , those little stock mic's have some really good audio to them, I believe there 1000 ohm'ers .....for 29.00 bucks plus shipping and a little tune up on the side ....I think it would work for you....good antenna and match is always a plus as well.

The 510 is a great radio for the money. I use one myself, mounted on the handlebars of a Kawasaki KLR650 enduro bike, running off of a Wilson 5000 trucker bolted to the rear frame. Works like a charm! As for tuning, they tune up nicely.

Have one in the Blazer running a Wilson 1000. Good for limited space. Added an ext.speaker. No mods done.

I'm running a 520 (same thing, except with RF Gain) in my jeep. Pretty good audio on those little radios if you use the stock mic....

I have this radio and haven't been able to find ANY info about tuning up or modding this radio. There are no CB shops around that I can have do the work. I have some experience with electronics, and am willing to do the work myself if I can find info on it somewhere. I've used guides to mod other radio's before. Any info would be helpful.

L6 and L5 should be power .......D14 should be the audio limiter ......you can just clip it or put a resistor in line with it to try and get it at 100% modulation , Need tools for that (-: ...A good question would be ,What value of a resistor with the diode might be a good ballpark call ? Good Luck to you.

THey are rugged and perform well. Mine works great and takes a beating on my Honda ATV. I have a four foot Wilson silverload fiberglass antenna to go with it.

I opened mine up and looked at L5 and L6 one of them is just a plain old coil of wire, no way to adjust it. The other one I adjusted. Took me about 30 minutes since I used an SWR meter, and retested the SWR after each little tweak and retested it. The needle is as high as it will go when I key up now. If I move the adjustment in either direction I get lower readings, accross everything. My antenna is also spot on to the radio in the channels I frequent most(17 and 20). Hopefully I did it right. I also clipped my mod limiter. I have a ham radio linear that works with it quite nicely when it's set on the 10 meter band. The bad part is I can't use it when mobile(the linear) as my inverter won't push enough power to run it(only a 150 watt inverter), so it doesn't really get used. I need to find my other radio which has an 858 chip in it as well as a "channel kit" and get it finished up and use it. It's a pretty badass little rig. When I find it I'll post up on it what model it is and all that.
