My Washington has a hum. The hum isn't affecting the performance. The hum seems to be coming from the right side (channel selector side). Even though the radio's turned off the hum continues. It's a very low hum. If I touch the right side cover it seems to stop. I'm assuming it's a transformer. If this is left plugged in while not in use can it possibly be a fire hazard or dangerous in any way?

Should be a 12 vdc connector on the back of the radio, IF you have a 12 vdc PS try using it on the rig and see if it stops humming.

Do unplug the 120vac plug first, and if there is a switch in the back to select ac/dc select DC.

IE the hum goes away then you know to start looking at the radio PS for issues, most likely dried out caps.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
