Base Unknown aluminum antenna

The first posting photos shows a never seen by me, CB antenna of some foreign type. It copied the Hy Gain type base assembly, using a two point mount. As the single point mounted base antennas broke off very easily. Surly there many antennas not popularizes that fadded
Into opsecurity.

The Spectrum 1600 Antennas were popular several years ago and the users liked them, except they broke apart in heavy winds using cheap Aluminum tubing.

Following the 5/8 GPE Sirio antenna instructions , it loaded fine on 27.185 . Here are some pictures for you to see. By the way, anyone here know the type of aluminum tubing used on this antenna ? According with the picture, how long is this antenna? Last picture is from the tip of the antenna.

Those little lines or ridges along the tubing make aluminum oxidation to develop quicker than smooth aluminum tubing. I had a hard time cleaning all the aluminum oxidation developed in between tubes. Is this type of tubing is stronger than the smooth one ?

By looking at the coil, How much powe do you think it can manage ?

Hello,

Well, in theory that should be a bit stronger, though I doubt you anyone will notice ...it is not going to be "a large practical difference".

A lot of guessing....( i dont like to guess)
Im guessing they have used something in the 6083 ..6082 aluminium, leaning to 6083T8...
I remember some of the CTE antennas were not "shinny" they had a "anti corrosive" coating on it.
(probarbly just what was availible).

These coils are used in many antennas (GPE)
I have several lying around in my junkbox.
A couple hundred watts in FM and maybe 500..in SSB, and you should be "save".
It does depend on factors like "temperature", time , wind etc.
Those coils have a "protection" layer around it...often moist is problem ...
It isnt an antenna which is known to be reliable for many years.

Kind regards, Henry 19DX348
