Now you've got me thinking of possibly doing one for 2m FM, so I'd be very interested in hearing how it works out for you.
And BTW, dipoles absolutely DO show gain when placed over real earth. As much as 6 to 7dBi for the ones I've modeled. The 2.15dBi gain number that's always thrown around is the Freespace gain.

BTW, my condolences to your being in broadcasting.

LOL! It's not so bad, I just deal with the one community station here on my little island and consult for a couple of others nearby. Once in a while I have to go on a small roadtrip to install new equipment somewhere or make repairs. Modern broadcast gear is really amazing in that it will run for years and years on end 24/7 with high reliability, so long as it stays nice and ventilated and its fed clean power.
I've never done much LMR stuff, but I do see lots of those Sinclair antennas about.

Broadcast tech is just about a half-time job for me, the rest of my income comes from appliance repairs and handyman jobs......... I live on a very small and somewhat isolated island, so it's always an interesting challenge trying to make ends meet!

You go first! A 2 Meter version will be MUCH simpler and cheaper to make. Then I’ll know whether or not to proceed.

Lol. It'll have to wait till after the 6m Yagi that's on the drawing board right now, that'll be going up first. I only have a HT for 2m for now and that's definitely low priority in my shack.
