I had the VX-5R, which is the same except not submersible, until it was stolen. It was a good little radio. Personally, I like the Kenwood TH-F6a because 220mhz is a lot more useful around here than 6m is. But if you want 6m, it's an excellent radio. I also had the Icom FT-90R, which I sold because I couldn't stand how wide open the RX was. I got intermod all over 2m on the Icom. So, if you're looking for a Tri-bander, IMO your best choices are the Kenwood TH-F6a and the Yaesu.

    Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
