Stopped by my dad's today, told him I needed to order a crimp tool. Opens his drawer and whips out a real nice crimper along with 6 silver crimp on PL's.
Made me happy, didn't think he had one as he always solders his stuff.

I am using connecters that crimp the shield, but the conducter is still soldered. I do not see it working loose any easier than doing it the old fashioned way. Much easier and quicker. At this point, I am only crimping stuff that's inside the shack. Next time I pull any of my wires down I will replace them with crimped connectors.

That's why you have to develop good soldering skills.
I have been soldering connectors for 35 years and am starting to look seriously at the crimp type at least for indoors connectors. Type N crimp connectors are a lot easier to deal with than the solder type N's.
I have always enjoyed soldering my connectors, but these crimp on jobbers are nice.
I'll be scrounging for them at the hamfests from now on.
